Casting Call Out! We’re staging Born & Bread

Born and Bread

Brighton People’s Theatre is casting our new play Born and Bread, and we’d love to meet you.

After listening to the stories of over 100 locals, 36 workshops, dozens of extra rehearsals, an R&D sharing and several re-writes of the script, we now have a finished script, songs and funding from the Arts Council to bring Born and Bread to life.

We have four shows planned at Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts; a matinee and an evening performance on each date where we will feed our audience as part of the show:

  • Saturday 30 September 2023, 1 pm and 6 pm
  • Sunday 1 October 2023, 1 pm and 6 pm
  • Dress rehearsal will be all day on Friday 29 September 2023

Come and be a part of it.

Thanks to Arts Council England and Unity Theatre Trust for supporting this project.

“It made me feel like I’m alive again. It helped tremendously to build my confidence around people. It’s a huge progress for me and I’m so grateful and thankful to BPT who welcomed me and gave me this opportunity.”

The Casting Evening

In July 2022 we had a hugely successful sell-out run of the show during its research and development phase. We are now looking for new performers to join the original cast to take Born and Bread to full production.

To be a part of this joyous show, which has been written using the real stories of Brighton people, join us for a fun and playful casting evening.

There is no need to have attended any previous BPT workshops to come to the casting, and no performance experience is required.

“I have learnt that there is creativity in everyone. I know how fabulously diverse my town is, but this is the most diverse group of people I’ve ever worked/played with, and it’s been a great experience.”
