BPT Member Maya takes on the Three Peaks Challenge

A word from Maya
Moving to Brighton by myself, away from family and with many friends leaving the city after university, I’ve often felt lonely. But Brighton People’s Theatre has given me an incredible sense of community and belonging. It’s a group of the most random, wonderful people—people I never imagined I’d cross paths with—and we all genuinely love and care for each other. It feels like a family where everyone is grateful and supportive. I get so excited to go every week, and if I miss it (even for something fun), I feel disappointed.
BPT creates a safe, inclusive space. They support us in putting on incredible shows, hosting cabaret events, and creating the most supportive, encouraging environment I’ve ever been a part of.
The theatre world is struggling massively right now, but Naomi, Niamh, and Jack—the three people running BPT—turn up every Tuesday and Thursday without fail to deliver two hours of workshops. They work relentlessly, purely because they believe in the power of creativity and connection. The standard of work being produced is genuinely incredible.
This organisation has brought so much joy into my life, and I want to give something back. BPT runs on a “pay-as-you-feel” model, so nobody is excluded, but that also means they rely on donations to keep going. Every penny raised will help them continue to thrive and provide this amazing space for others who may need it as much as I do.
I’m about to start training for the challenge and will be sharing photos and updates along the way, so keep an eye out and join me on this journey! If you can, please donate—anything you can give will make a difference.
