Marina Norris joins Brighton People’s Theatre as an Interim Executive Director

After our search for an Executive Director, we are delighted to have appointed Marina Norris to work with us for the next 6 months, while our Founder and Artistic Director, Naomi Alexander, makes the most of her Clore Fellowship.

On her appointment as Executive Director, Marina says,

“My father grew up in Brighton during WW2, he loved theatre and dance but believed that people with his background couldn’t have a career in the arts. I am therefore immensely proud to be working with Brighton People’s Theatre, a company committed to ensuring there are no barriers for any residents to enjoy and create theatre and pursue their dreams. I’m excited to be supporting the team in building our partnerships and impact while our brilliantly talented Artistic Director Naomi Alexander is undertaking a Clore Fellowship for Theatre.”

Marina has over 25 years of experience working in arts & culture. As a consultant, she has led organisational reviews, undertaken interim leadership roles, supported creative entrepreneurs and redesigned national cultural programmes.

She spent 10 years in Senior Management at Arts Council England South East. During her time at ACE she led the South-East region’s involvement in the Cultural Olympiad 2012, and cross-cutting agendas including Private Giving, Internationalism, Diversity, Children and Young People.

Her freelance clients have included; Help Musicians UK, HOME Slough (Creative People & Places), Deutsche Bank, East Sussex County Council, National Literacy Trust. She is an Associate Tutor at the ICCE unit at Goldsmiths Uni and a Trustee of Brighton Dome and Festival.
